PROOFREADING

Sometimes you just need an outside set of eyes to give your documents or materials a final look. You may not want any significant changes, especially if your project has already gone through a final review. However, you also don’t want to let any typos, mistakes or formatting inconsistencies sneak through. I will take a close look at your final product to make sure it is your highest quality work. I understand that proofreading is often a last-minute job requiring a quick turn-around. Contact me and I will work with you to get it done. I’m experienced with AP, Chicago and AMA styles, but I can also work with a style sheet particular to your company/organization or field.

COPYEDITING

There may be other times when your writing project needs a little extra assistance. Perhaps you have a grant report that’s stretched on to 12 pages while the funder requires a limit of 6. I can help you tighten your prose without losing your meaning. I am good at understanding what you’re trying to say while finding ways to help you express it most effectively. I focus on readability and have a lot of experience in translating technical subject matter into easy-to-understand prose.

ORIGINAL CONTENT WRITING

Storytelling is often the best way to convey the value of your organization or company. I can conduct research and interviews in order to craft meaningful, insightful stories and profiles for your group’s annual report, magazine, newsletter, website or marketing brochure. Has your company or group had a resounding success in the past year? Celebrate it and get the word out by having me interview the key players to come up with a compelling narrative that you can share with your customers or supporters.

JOURNALISM AND FEATURES WRITING

As a freelance writer for print publications and websites, I have years of experience in writing about music and the arts, farms and food, Saratoga Springs and local interest, and conservation and the environment. PUBLICATIONS AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

As the editor for American Farmland Trust, I managed all aspects of our award-winning quarterly magazine, American Farmland, as well as many other publication projects and reports. If needed, I can manage your brochure, magazine, annual report or other marketing collateral project from start to finish – beginning with strategizing through to research/writing, design, budgeting, final proofreading and printing/distribution.
